Booking FAQ.

Clear, practical answers about choosing a film, managing an engagement and building an audience together.

Can I book one film, or do I need to screen the entire Black Opiate slate?

You may book a single film, several titles or build a series over time. There is no slate-wide commitment.

Black Opiate values long-term exhibitor relationships, but we believe those relationships should be earned. Start with the film that best suits your audience and market, then build from the results. We think you’ll want to work with us again.

Does my theatre have to pay for marketing or promotional support?

No. Black Opiate funds and manages the agreed campaign support for each engagement, including paid digital promotion and, where appropriate, traditional or community outreach.

Your theatre provides its normal organic promotion to its audience and on-site exhibition operations. There is no separate Black Opiate marketing charge, which keeps the commitment low-risk for our theatre partners.

Will Black Opiate feature my theatre on its social media channels?

Yes. Our theatre partners are central to every engagement. We promote confirmed screenings, tag and feature participating venues where possible, and create opportunities for audiences to discover the independent cinemas keeping film culture vibrant.

This is a partnership: we want the film to succeed, and we want your theatre to be seen.

How do I know which Black Opiate film will work for my audience?

Start with the evidence: festival selections, awards, critical response, audience positioning and the film’s subject matter. Selected titles in our slate have earned significant recognition, including a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.

More importantly, we welcome the programming conversation. Tell us about your market, your theatre and the films your audience supports. We will help identify the strongest fit and shape a campaign around it.

What are the financial terms for a screening?

Our standard model is a straightforward 50/50 split of net ticket revenue, with no large upfront film rental or licensing fee.

Final terms are confirmed in writing for each engagement so both parties understand reporting, settlement and any approved deductions before tickets go on sale.

How long does my theatre need to run a film?

Engagements are flexible and can range from a single event screening to a run of up to two weeks.

We can begin with one night, assess demand and expand where the audience response and your schedule support it. The goal is to create the right engagement, not force an arbitrary run length.

What materials and support will my theatre receive?

Black Opiate provides secure film delivery, high-resolution key art, trailers, approved social assets and the agreed promotional campaign.

Depending on the film and engagement, we may also coordinate reviewer outreach, community partnerships, printed materials, a filmmaker Q&A or an event-style screening.

Choose a film. Test your audience. Build from success.
